Yoga for Cyclists
Comfort + increased power + less fatigue + more aerodynamics = FREE SPEED
There are literally hundreds of styles of yoga out there. As a competitive athlete, the physical practice (asanas) of yoga needs to be approached with care. Attending classes at a studio or online is cool…but you are typically not going to receive the sequencing or verbal cues that will directly compliment your individual daily training.
With The Athletes Lab, you will gradually see greater mobility and increased range of motion. Our approach is not to crank through muscle tissue and fascia with long holds in the poses. In fact, this can lead to instability, injury, and loss of performance.
Our classes are specifically designed to balance opposing muscle groups, deepen our overall body awareness, and mindfully work with breathwork to remain clam and poised under pressure.
Meditation
By taking a deep dive into the practice and science behind it all, I directly experienced that adding meditation to your routine trains your brain to build resistance against daily stressors that impact our mental and physical health. When we tap into our parasympathetic nervous system we essentially re-wire how we respond to internal and external stressors. As well as having a profound positive benefit on heart rate and its variability (HRV). This is monumental for the cyclist who routinely, and willingly, place healthy stress on our bodies. If you are an athlete, and you’re not meditating, there is no better time than now to begin.
We can help you get started.
A Personalized Flow
Not sure where to begin? Our bodies are different, and yoga is rarely a one-size-fits-all approach. This 90 minute session (at the Lab or on Skype) will help you find and know your personal alignments, modifications, and ways you can personally grow with your practice. Remember, your body is not symmetrical so don't get hung up on making the sensations symmetrical.
Classes at Asana
Currently, I’m not teaching group classes. Please check our studio schedule, follow me on youtube, or schedule a private sesh for the most personalized practice.
Purposeful Integration
Yoga unified my beliefs and profoundly changed my view of the mind-body connection. My practice of yoga, and teaching at my studio, has been a gradual evolution. I found purposeful ways to integrate yoga to maximize potential, enhance recovery, and keep injury at bay, as well as, working with the deep psychological, and physiological well-being that meditation can benefit.
