About Josh
Raised in the foothills of the Eastern Sierra Nevada, I grew up treating the mountains as my playground. What began as casual rides through the Pinenut Mountains quickly evolved into a deep-rooted passion for pushing limits — physically and mentally — through racing, training, and exploring on two wheels.
Though I excelled in high school cross country and consistently ranked among the top, the connection I felt on the bike was unmatched. It wasn’t just performance — it was purpose. As I prepared for the Junior World Cup MTB tour, the road bike became a cornerstone of my training, gradually shifting from tool to true calling. My track coach recognized this and fully supported the transition, often bringing me to regional races instead of traditional team meets.
One of my greatest mentors, Lyle Freeman, played a pivotal role in shaping both my athletic career and my coaching philosophy. After earning regional and national duathlon titles at 17, I fully committed to the world of road racing — not just to compete, but to understand the depth of what it means to train, adapt, and evolve.
USOPC
I was recruited to be a resident athlete at the US Olympic Para-Olympic Training Center, in Colorado Springs, CO. Part of a month-long high altitude research program I worked closely with some of the top cycling coaches, and physiologists. I immediately became obsessed with data, how performance and fitness can be shaped with different variables, and had that burning dream every young cyclist had…
riding the Pro Tour. I still do and don’t think it will ever go away.

Integration
A few years down the road, I found yoga — or maybe it found me. With a strong base of fitness and mobility already in place, what drew me in wasn’t the physical challenge, but the mindfulness and, dare I say, the spiritual side of the practice.
Over time, yoga reshaped how I understood the mind-body connection. What began as recovery and injury prevention became something deeper: a tool for mental clarity, nervous system regulation, and sustainable well-being. As I started teaching at my studio, my approach evolved — grounded in both personal experience and the science behind it.
Meditation, in particular, changed everything. It trains the brain to build resilience against daily stressors, improves recovery, and enhances mental focus — benefits every athlete deserves to access.
Today, as a competitive Cat 1 road racer, elite-level XC and gravel rider, and unapologetic Strava KOM hunter, I’m channeling this next chapter into something bigger: helping cyclists develop performance with purpose, grounded in community, resilience, and a deeper connection to the ride.
