Your Cycling Coach

Josh Nelson is a performance cycling coach and founder of The Athletes Lab. He incorporates proven training methodologies, concepts of sports psychology, and draws upon 20+ years of racing experience to meet each athlete where they are in their cycling journey.

Join us for an exciting opportunity to learn about the Avout Racing Academy MTB program! If you’re a student-athlete ages 13-18, this is your chance to discover how we help riders like you improve on the bike by focusing on skill development, fitness, and mental performance.
Our athlete-centric program is designed to challenge you, build your confidence, and set you up for long-term growth. While competitive racing is a key part of our focus, it’s not a requirement.
Starting with team Orientation on March 1st, we’ll be meeting twice a week to work together in the gym, studio, and on the trails to help you reach your full potential.

The Race Schedule

MTB Practices

Tuesdays and Thursdays
4:30pm – 6:30pm

Tuesdays will be held at Moore Park and Thursdays at Spence Mtn. During periods of inclement weather, practice will be held at The Athletes Lab and consist of trainer workouts, yoga, and/or strength training in the gym.

Requirements

Willingness to have fun, work hard, and be curious about growing your MTB skills and performance!

Ages 13-18

Mountain bike (in good mechanical condition) with disc brakes and wheels 26″ or larger

Gearing of 1×11 or 1×12 is recommended.

Hi, I’m Josh and thanks for stopping by my site. 

My vision and goal is to share what I have learned over the past 25 years of professional endurance competition, training, and overall well-being.  I believe that training is much more than cranking out a prescribed workout via a powermeter.

At The Athletes Lab we focus on finding ways to balance, sustain, and progress on and off the bike.  Your races and training are only as strong as the ways you nurture them.  We train hard, but we recover harder.
